CASA AURA

Located in Ribeirão Preto, in the countryside of São Paulo, Casa Aura sits on a plot with a curved geometry. The architectural concept was guided by the sun’s path and the mandatory setbacks of the condominium, resulting in an arrangement that balances form, function and a strong connection to its surroundings.

Two main volumes, the residential block and the garage, are positioned at an angle to follow the lot’s limits while preserving a generous green area that enhances cross ventilation and provides natural shading. Morning light fills the spaces facing east, while the more exposed west façades receive protective treatments and controlled openings. Cross ventilation, high openings for thermal exhaust and wide shaded spans allow the house to breathe, maintaining thermal comfort even on the hottest days.

The arrival is marked by a lowered ceiling hall clad in wood, creating a moment of pause before opening into the double-height living area. This space faces entirely toward the garden and pool, with large sliding panels that, when fully retracted, transform the room into a shaded veranda, open to the breeze and inviting life to flow between indoors and outdoors.

On the ground floor, the social spaces are visually connected yet can be closed off with folding panels or glazed partitions, allowing different degrees of integration. On the upper floor, three suites face east and are protected by sliding wooden shutters that filter sunlight and preserve privacy.

At the center of the house, a metallic helical staircase serves as both a sculptural element and a vertical connector. On the mezzanine, an intimate lounge offers a more secluded space, complementing the family’s needs.

Materiality reinforces the contemporary identity of the project: exposed concrete, natural wood on ceilings and panels, metal detailing on the staircase, natural stone and slender frames that frame the landscape. The neutral and organic palette balances the solidity of the structure with the lightness of the spaces, conveying a sense of calm and permanence.

Casa Aura emerges from the encounter between technical precision and spatial sensitivity, creating a luminous and welcoming refuge. It is an architecture open to the climate and the landscape, yet equally attuned to moments of pause and togetherness, becoming a natural extension of its residents’ way of life.
